MODEL VIEWER v2.21 - IMPORTING MODELS

Importing is too easy. Bad things can happen after you import, but doing it is too easy. After you have your Model completely worked over, this will put all those individual files back into a 1 file .DAT format that will be accepted by FFXI.

  1. Importing Models
  2. Restoring Original .DAT's

Importing Models
  1. Open Model Viewer.
  2. Load up and configure the Model you plan to overwrite. It is important to have the same Model that you're importing or you'll get a tiny Error Box.
  3. Let's go on up to File>Convert MQO to DAT and watch something funny happen...

  4. The Open box comes up, asking you to load your .MQO, but you can't get the .MQO to show up.
  5. No worries, just load the .MCD file that corresponds to the Model.
  6. Another Congratulations box for ya.

  7. And that's it. Your model is brand new and ready to use. Next time you log into your game, you'll see it all over LJ. Congratulations[box]!!!

Restoring Original .DAT's

In case you mess something up horribly, Model Viewer saves a backup of your Imported .DAT's. I will warn you now, though. this should not be your only means of .DAT backup. During heavy modding sessions these backups can easily be overwritten, leaving you with nothing but starting over if you mess something up.

  1. Open Model Viewer.
  2. Load up the Model that you need to Restore. I'm going to restore my PLM .DAT cuz even modding didn't make it cool.

  3. Now travel up to File>Restore DAT from Backup.
  4. This will bring up a selection box.

  5. Be sure to select the correct .DAT. If you don't you'll restore a current piece you didn't want to. Mine will be the PLM .DAT because I wanna keep my Chocobot Mod.
  6. Afterwards, click OK and watch the Ego Boosting Boxes popup!

  7. And that's it. you've restored your botched modding attempt.
