VRS v1.0 - ADDING NEW MATERIAL

This will give you that cool Shiny or normal Dull effect on your Textures. It's relatively simple to do, but there are some things that will completely crash VRS if done wrong, for some reason. You can add Material to certain areas of your Model or to whole Objects. For this tutorial, I will be giving my Giant-sphere-to-become-a-spiky-tail-attachment a Reflective Material. Can't have effective spikes if your enemy doesn't see their own horrified reflection before they take a dive, can we?
  1. Open VRS and your Model.
  2. Go straight to the Structural Drawing window.

  3. Select that lone Material and Delete it.

  4. Travel on down to your Spatial Figure window.
  5. In your Operation Toolbox select Multi-Select. In your Object Toolbox select Polyongs.

  6. Now select the Polygons you want to add the new Material to. In my case it's the entire Sphere Object, but you can also add to just specific Poygons.

  7. After you're done selecting, go up to New File Menu and select Create Material.

  8. This wil create a new Default Material in your Structural Drawing window. Select only the Material.
  9. Now open your Material Toolbox to set some properties.

  10. Material Tool Box
    • Shading - These are obviously universal with 3D Apps, but I really don't know the difference so I just use Default.
    • Transparency - Determines how the Material will affect the Texture. In my case, I want it to be Reflective.
    • Brightness / Transarency / Cloudiness - I believe this affects the "strength" of the Material on your Texture, not the actual way it looks.
    • Specular - Changes the color of the Transparency Effect from above.
    • Ambient - Changes the color effect that Enviromental Type lighting will have on the Material.
    • Diffuse - Changes the color effect that Frontal Type lighting will have on the Material.
  11. After you're done setting your options, you're ready to Export.
  12. It's probably going to take some trial and error to get the Material looking like you want, but it's well worth it. Good luck.
